Indications for MLD Therapy
Rebecca specializes in trauma and movement disorders, as well as immune and inflammatory conditions. Although MLDT does not always offer a cure, it is capable of stabilizing tissue integrity. By stimulating the lymphatic system and encouraging the body to re-absorb cellular debris (often the result of tissue damage and degeneration), the pathways between body systems become uncluttered, allowing proper communication. Further tissue damage and potential infection can be prevented.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease) - A degenerative disease of the motor neurons (nerve cells that transmit nerve impulses from the brain or spinal cord to muscular or glandular tissue). Characterized by weakness and atrophy of muscles.

Edema (swelling) - The abnormal accumulation of fluid (lymph) in the interstitial space.

Fibromyalgia - A rheumatism characterized by pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.

Lumpectomy - The surgical excision of a tumor without removing large amounts of surrounding tissue.

Lymphedema - The accumulation of fluid (lymph) in soft tissue.

Mammoplasty - The reshaping of the breasts, performed to reduce or lift large breasts, to enlarge small breasts, or to re-construct a breast after the removal of a tumor.

Mastectomy - The surgical removal of one or both breasts, most commonly performed to remove a malignant (invasive) tumor.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - A progressive disease in which the fibers of the brain and spinal cord deteriorate. Characteristics can include muscle weakness, visual disturbances and abnormal sensation in the extremities or on one side of the face.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) - A chronic, inflammatory, destructive disease which has an autoimmune component. Characterized by severe swelling, joint deformity, bone and cartilage destruction, muscle loss and pain.

Scar Tissue - Compromised tissue the result of injury or surgical incision, which can create adhesions, soft tussue restrictions and lymphatic obstruction.

Tonsillitis - An infection or inflammation of one or both tonsils (small rounded mass of lymphoid tissue).

Venous Insufficiency - A circulatory condition characterized by a decrease in return of blood supply from the legs to the trunk, creating edema (swelling).

There are contraindications for MLDT; therefore, a referral from your physician may be required prior to treatment.
